I employed Sean and his team to return my rear garden back into a garden. The previous owners had used it as a car park and it was mostly concrete. Sean and his team did an amazing and thorough job. Excavating the old, putting in suitable drainage, putting down soil, then constructing a magnificent raised flower bed in sleepers. We then put down grass on one half and a stunning patio on the other. Sean was meticulous over laying the tiles, ensuring they were level and cut perfectly. The garden looks amazing. Everyone who walks past it comments on it and it has really changed how we use the house. The kids enjoy playing out there and it's created a great looking adult space as well. From Boarding to Decking

Commercial Pilot to Landscape Gardner, how did I get here? It probably isn’t as crazy a concept as you might think. During Covid you saw daily reports on the news that people were working different jobs to their usual 9-5 life and for me it was no different.

Landscape Gardening was not a new concept to me when I set the business up in early 2024. Whilst at the University of Glasgow I would work with friends who owned Landscape Gardening and Tree Surgery Businesses. Then on completion of my Flying Training in 2012 I moved to a hotel owned and run by my family to landscape the gardens whilst I waited on my first flying job coming along.

Fast forward to 2020 my wife and I moved into our new house and whilst on furlough I decided to undertake the task of landscaping our back garden. I set about building a patio area, fencing the garden, building a fire pit and seeding a grass area. When I posted pictures of my progress and the end result I was inundated with messages from friends who would ask me to do some work for them. I then helped a close friend do some landscaping jobs for his business in Fife which wetted my appetite for carrying out regular landscaping work. One thing led to another and with the amount of jobs I had waiting in the wings I thought I would take the risk and set up ‘Landscape Pilots’.

The name of the company was actually quite easy to come up with. Being a full time commercial pilot I wanted to link one highly skilled and trained job with another. Landscape Gardening is a highly skilled manual labour industry and I am a highly skilled and trained pilot, therefore any work I carry out is always to a high specification and finish. I strive to provide a service to the highest possible standard and be a business that shows the highest form of professionalism.
